IKEA has just launched a new motion-activated LED light that you can stick anywhere, and doesn't require a smart home hub. The IKEA Gömpyssling light is completely wireless, and best of all, it's super cheap — just $4.99 for a pair of two
They're incredibly handy — you can use them as nightlights in your kids' rooms, stick one in the bathroom so you don't dazzle yourself if you need to fetch a drink in the night, stick them in your kitchen cabinets so you can see all the spices at the back, or put some in your closet so you can get a better view of your clothes in the morning.
Cleverly, IKEA has designed each light with the LED angled downwards, so it illuminates whatever is underneath. They will turn off automatically after 10 seconds have passed with no motion detected
It's a much quicker and easier option than using a smart light paired with a motion sensor, which would also require a smart home hub, and would cost a lot more for the same result.
If you're worried about electronic waste, you'll be pleased to know that that the little Gömpyssling lights use replaceable AA batteries, so you don't need to throw them out when they start to dim. Pick up a Stenkol charger with four Ladda batteries for $18.98 and you can keep your home beautifully lit for years to come.
