IKEA issues urgent recall of child bibs over choking hazard fears

Swedish retailer IKEA has recalled 3,700 bibs over fears the buttons attached could cause babies to choke.

Anybody who has bought the MATVRÅ Red and Blue two pack ( article number 504.269.20) has been advised to return the bibs to store immediately for a full refund.

The retailer says that it has received two separate reports of the button on the bibs coming loose, and while no medical treatment was required, the button could have been swallowed presenting a choking hazard.

Customers who own MATVRÅ bibs have been urged to stop using them and return them to an IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required for a full refund.

In a statement about the recall on its website, IKEA wrote: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding."

If you think you have been affected or require any further information, you can contact IKEA on 0203 645 0010.
