IKEA bosses call in police after massive game of hide and seek planned for Glasgow store

Glasgow IKEA bosses called in police this weekend after it was believed thousands of people would turn up for a huge game of hide and seek in the store.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the Braehead store after a Facebook event was created to turn the shop into a massive playground on Saturday (August 31).

The trend of thousands of people turning up to play hide and seek in a Ikea warehouse started in a Belgian store last year.

Since then it has spread across the continent and yesterday afternoon it came to Scotland, until bosses at the shop took action, as reported by the Daily Record .

After catching wind of the social media event, which suggested around 3,000 people were going to turn up, the store drafted in additional security.

Throughout the course of the afternoon youths turned up to hide in cupboards, fridges and beds however they were turned away by officers.

Word soon spread that people were being refused entry which lead to the event being abandoned.

Cops remained on the scene until 8pm.
