IKEA Belfast announce new opening hours and safety measures

IKEA announced yesterday that their Belfast store will re-open its doors on June 1.

But they have set out strict safety measures and revised opening times, for the safety of customers and staff.

A spokesperson said: "To ensure a safe shopping experience we ask that if you can, please shop alone. Only bring one other person from the same household, if you need special assistance or if you need to bring your children with you.

"There will be a queuing system outside to manage entry into the store. We’ll have co-workers and signage throughout the store to help you stick to social distancing guidelines.

"[And] as you might expect, we'll be doing extra scrubbing, cleaning, and sterilising to make the whole store as safe as possible for you.

"Hand sanitisers will be stationed throughout the store, as will new protective screens at key points such as checkouts.

"We recommend you come prepared with ready-made lists and your own bags."

The store also say they will only be accepting cashless payments to reduce the amount of contact between customers and co-workers.

The IKEA restaurant will be closed for the meantime, but Bistros will be open for takeaways, and the Swedish Food Market will be open for those make-at-home meatballs and Swedish favourites.

Children play areas, both indoor and outdoor, and the Småland crèche will also remain closed at this stage.

Reduced opening hours are in place, and on Monday-Saturday the Belfast store will be open 10am to 8pm, and on Sundays 12pm to 6pm.

IKEA say they will also be introducing a Click and Collect in all of their stores shortly.
