IKEA and the Design Museum are set to host future of renting event

Sixty per cent of Londoners are expected to be living in rented accommodation by 2025, according to forecasts by PwC property consultants and advisers.

Tenants will want homeware that not only looks stylish but also makes the most of compact city spaces.

So how are designers making sure their products work well for flexible living? IKEA have joined forces with the Design Museum to discuss how designers are responding to fluid living situations.

Taking place on 16 January, three speakers will reflect on how the home is being affected by fundamental shifts in the renting market and why product design needs to work harder than ever in rental accommodation to adhere to flexible/fluid living situations.

Kicking off at 6.30pm and running until 8pm, speakers include Maria Jonsson, from IKEA, architect Nick Lobo Brennan, currently working alongside British artist Grayson Perry on an affordable housing scheme and SPACE10's Jamiee Williams, the project lead in a playful research project looking into how we will live in the year 2030.

Tickets are £10 and can be booked here
