LUCKNOW: IIM Indore director Prof Himanshu Rai was conferred the Best Management Professional Award 2022 for achievements in the field of management by the Lucknow Management Association (LMA).
The award was conferred on him by LMA president Navneet Sehgal who is also the additional chief secretary, UP.
Prof Rai is an electrics and electronics engineer and has done PhD from IIM, Ahmedabad. At IIM-Indore he implemented several initiatives to improve the institute ranking in India and globally. He also spearheaded several projects in UP, including implementation of ODOP (one district one product) programme in four districts of UP, creating a model village, providing traffic solutions to five cities and strengthening the police system for the state
Prof Rai, who is former dean of MISB Bocconi, India campus of Bocconi University, Milan, Italy, had contributed to teaching, research and administrative activities with distinction at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. Before coming to academics, Prof Rai worked for 10 years in Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.
In addition, Prof Rai has been engaged in numerous pro bono public service works and consultancy assignments. His articles have been published widely in national and international journals. Besides serving on the advisory boards of many Indian organisations, Prof Rai is chairman, advisory board, Durban University of Technology Business School, South Africa.
