Iggy Azalea has defended her decision to continue performing after one her backup dancers suffered a seizure.

During a concert in Rio de Janeiro, on Thursday night, the rapper was in the middle of her track “Black Widow” when one of her three dancers suddenly collapsed.

Azalea called for a medic to come onstage, before continuing with the song and eventually finishing out the show.

The Australian rapper defended her decision on Instagram, writing that she had kept going because she “thought [the dancer] had just fallen/twisted her ankle”, only later realising that the situation was more serious.

She acknowledged that it “may sound harsh” but she felt obligated to “keep singing until the music stops”.

Azalea added: “We are all really shaken up by what happened and just thankful she is okay.”

She stressed that the dancer in question was “feeling much better” and that “the light and heat caused her to have a seizure”.

The rapper continued: ”I know it’s easy to make memes of someone ‘passed out’ but someone having a seizure isn’t funny, it’s really scary! So I hope my fans do not repost some of the memes I’m seeing about my dancer.”
