IFA 2025: the biggest tech launches live from Germany

IFA 2025 – outside Messe Berlin in Germany.

IFA is the biggest tech show in Europe, and it's back for its 101st year. This consumer show is open to both the public and press from Friday, 5 September to Monday, 8 September. However, most of the big news happens in the days running up to the show, behind closed doors.

Much like the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, IFA encompasses a broad spectrum of technologies, ranging from TVs to washing machines and beyond. This year, we're expecting a heavier focus on smart home technology, such as robot vacuums, security cameras, fans and dehumidifiers, though that doesn't mean we won't also see more traditional tech launches.

All the big names are here, from Sony and Samsung, through to Belkin and Dyson, so there's lots on display. We're here too, to check out all the new products, and there are lots to see.

So you'll find all the latest news from the show right here, as it happens.

Pre IFA events start now

Good morning from Germany. T3's tech team are already on the ground ahead of the pre-IFA announcements that start today. Many of the biggest manufacturers are holding keynote events in the run up to the show here in Berlin, so they can beat the rush to the show. Keep your eyes peeled today, as we'll publish the news as it breaks.

Dolby Vision 2

Just yesterday we heard the groundbreaking news that Dolby has released a new version of its HDR technology. Dolby Vision 2 is likely to appear in new TVs across the board, and some are likely to be on display at IFA.

HiSense has already confirmed that its new models being shown at IFA are using the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor running the "Miravision" Pro PQ Engine. The Pentonic 800 is the first chip that has been confirmed to support Dolby Vision 2.

Acer goes early with big announcements

Although the press day of IFA 2025 doesn't technically start until tomorrow (4 September), some companies have already made some big announcements. That includes Acer, with several new laptops and gaming devices that are coming in the next few months and early 2026.

For starters, there's an amazing-looking OLED gaming monitor with a jaw-dropping 720Hz refresh rate. The Acer Predator X27U F8 will start at $1,300 / £1,045 and be available next year.

You can also read about the 18-inch Predator Helios 18P AI gaming laptop, plus the Acer Swift Air 16 – which weighs under 1kg and looks to be a MacBook Air alternative with some serious chops.

Peek-a-boo!

LG always uses IFA as a platform to introduce cunning new devices and appliances, and this year's is no exception.

It's already announced a new robot vacuum cleaner and mop that hides away in furniture when not in use. And even more cunning is that chest of drawers is actually its cleaning station, so it can deposit dirt and dirty water out of sight too.

Now this is ReMarkable...

As part of IFA, E Ink tablet brand ReMarkable has introduced a full-colour, highly-pocketable version of its digital notebook.

The ReMarkable Paper Pro Move has a Kindle Colorsoft style display, but also comes with a stylus to enable you to take notes on its paper-like display. It can even convert your handwritten notes into text, to make them simple to send as an email or message.

Available to order now, it is priced at £399 / $449 for a standard model, or £439 / $499 for a Marker Plus variant.

Just to reiterate, T3 is attending IFA 2025 in force to bring you all the latest announcements on smart home and consumer tech products, such as smart appliances and televisions. There might even be a new phone and tablet, or two.

We'll be updating this live hub with all our content over the next few days, so come back often if you want to keep up to date with the show and launches. We expect tomorrow (Thursday) to be particularly busy.

Samsung's surprise Galaxy launch event

(Image credit: Future / Mike Lowe)

Hi there, it's news editor Rik Henderson back to start day two of our IFA coverage, and it promises to be a big one. For starters, Samsung will kick off its IFA activities with a surprise launch event this morning.

The Galaxy Event is being streamed online from 10:30 BST (11:30 CEST, local time to Berlin) and is expected to debut the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, plus a potential Galaxy Tab S11 or two.

Samsung has finally lifted the lid on its new mid-range Android phone – the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE.

We've had some time with the new handset, and say it could even be a better option than the Galaxy S25 Plus.

The company also unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra – at 11- and 14.6-inches respectively. They come with Android 16 (One UI 8.0) preinstalled, 120Hz displays and up to 1TB storage options. Oh, and they're both available to order from today.

Darling buds of September

IFA is traditionally the launch pad for TVs and smart home kit, but there are often smaller devices on show too.

Take the Technics EAH-AZ100, for example. They've been given a fresh colour scheme as part of the brand's IFA lineup and we like a lot.

It has also announced the Technics SL-40CBT direct drive turntable, which comes with Bluetooth support and a built-in phono MM equaliser to make sure your vinyl records sound their best.

It's not all just IFA you know

While the T3 team is scurrying around the halls at IFA in Berlin, attending press conferences and checking out some of the hottest products, there just so happens to be another show taking place at the moment.

A must for fans of quality wristwear, Geneva Watch Days 2025 is taking place in Switzerland as the same time as IFA – and there are some gorgeous premium timepieces being announced and launched.

You can check out our coverage of that show in our parallel live blog right here.

Special for Sonos owners

There have been a fair few announcements about Philips Hue this IFA, but there's even more if you're a Sonos speaker owner.

That's because you also get exclusive offline voice control over your Hue lighting and smart plugs.

As it's processed in the speaker itself, without needing an internet connection (like Alexa), you can switch on or off your Hue bulbs or even change the colour in a more secure and private way. And the latency is better too.

Slimming world

The public are allowed into IFA from today, while some additional launches are expected.

Some extra products were revealed late yesterday, including the Tecno Spark Slim – a superthin Android phone that takes on the Samsung Galaxy Edge and Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air.

Measuring just 5.95mm, the 6.7-inch device looks to be a real stunner. We just don't yet know when it'll be available to buy, or how much it'll cost.

Best of IFA 2025 Awards

This year's IFA show was one of the strongest in quite some time, so picking the winners of the T3 Best of IFA 2025 Awards was quite a challenge. We've done it, though, and here's our list.
