'If Saka was a size 7' - Arsenal fans fume after VAR rules out Ceballos goal

Arsenal fans are not impressed with VAR after the much-maligned system took centre stage yet again during this afternoon's Premier League clash against Fulham.

In the run-up to half-time at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners thought they had a lead when Dani Ceballos struck after combining with French striker Alexandre Lacazette.

However, that would-be opener was ultimately ruled out by VAR. But why, exactly?

During the build-up, England prospect Bukayo Saka was deemed to be offside by the finest of margins - as his big toe prevented Arsenal from going 1-0 up against the relegation-threatened Cottagers.

Questioning whether or not Saka had actually gained an advantage, some supporters have also seen the funny side, but that was before Fulham edged in front at the other end.

Indeed, in between displaying their outrage at the motives behind the video replay system - which has reared its ugly head one too many times since being introduced in the Premier League - they suggested Saka 'ought to have had his toenails cut' pre-match.

Others were left ruing his boot size in a tongue-in-cheek exchange made across the social media platforms.

Here is a selection of comments made by Arsenal fans on Twitter this afternoon;

However, that wasn't the only goal Arsenal had ruled out before half-time came and went at the Emirates Stadium.

In the aftermath of Saka straying offside - which came at a cost to on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Ceballos - Fulham defender Joachim Andersen turned into his own net.

On that occasion, though, the offside flag was more comprehensive as academy graduate Emile Rowe Smith found himself in an illegal position before combining with Granit Xhaka on the overlap.
