MUMBAI: Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Friday slammed Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over the BJP's alliance with 40 rebel Sena MLAs. Aaditya said that if he were in Fadnavis's place, he would have maintained his self-respect and pulled out of the government to face elections.
"If I were Devendra Fadnavis, I would have maintained my self-respect. I would have maintained the image of my party. We would have come out of this government and faced elections once again. Would not have sat with these 40 people," Aaditya said on his 'Shiv Samvaad' yatra in Ratnagiri. Industries minister Uday Samant, who is with the Shinde faction, is an MLA from the district.
Aaditya also slammed the rebel MLAs, saying their (Shiv Sena's) only mistake was that the party gave them more than they deserved.
"Our only mistake was that we gave them more than they deserved. They got indigestion and had to go across to eat Hajmola. These 40 people have started to consider betrayal as rebellion, revolution, and are walking around shamelessly. If you had the courage, you should have come forward. You should not have stabbed us in the back like traitors. 33 countries took note of your rebellion, you claim, but not they didn't take note of your rebellion but of your betrayal. Maharashtra has taken good note. If they wanted to revolt, they would have stood their ground. But they escaped," Aaditya alleged. He also targeted rebel MLA Sada Sarvankar who was booked for allegedly firing a bullet 'on the ground' within the premises of Dadar police station. "See how much change you have brought in Maharashtra... I'm seeing in the last two months, some MLAs go and fire on the police, another MLA threatens the police," he said.
