'If ever a manager brought it on himself' - Former SAFC striker Marco Gabbiadini reacts to Phil Parkinson sacking

Former Sunderland forward Maro Gabbiadini has said Phil Parkinson brought his sacking on himself.

The Black Cats have parted company with Parkinson after 13 months in charge, seven points off top spot.

His assistant Steve Parkin has also left the club and first team coach Andrew Taylor is set to take charge of Tuesday's game against Burton Albion.

Much has been made of Parkinson's post match reaction to games in recent weeks.

The former SAFC, Gabbiadini said: "So sad @ SunderlandAFC had to sack yet another manager but if ever a manager brought it on himself in his recent reactions in games to lack of pace and desire it was Parky.

"Praised youngsters but never used them.

"Sale of the club must be close so that’s a positive!"
