I recently spent a week in the South of France (I promise I'll stop talking about it soon) and a few days before the flight I had a nightmare.
No, I'm not being dramatic, I literally had a nightmare during my usually-peaceful slumber, in which I vividly watched airport security empty my entire beauty bag into the bin. I'm talking my best face moisturiser and my favourite long-lasting perfume that both cost a pretty penny. I stared in disbelief before the panic set in...and then I woke up – thankfully.
It may have encouraged me to triple-check the security rules for the airports I was travelling to, but it got me thinking, what would I do if that happened? Fortunately, I've never been in that situation (yet), but a few days later I strolled through the airport making note of the essential beauty buys I would restock if I ever did find myself living out said nightmare in real life.
The 9 beauty buys I would restock before heading to my gate
If I had some time to spare before heading to my gate and catching a flight, I'd make sure I grabbed the necessities that tick every box, such as skincare, sun care and lightweight, radiant makeup buys that are perfect for holiday.
Alternatively, if you don't want to stress yourself out with the security restrictions, you can also order your buys in advance via the Boots and World Duty Free websites to pick up once you've arrived at the airport – easy peasy.

RRP: £7.50 for 118ml
The clue is in its name with this Cetaphil cleanser, it's so gentle on the skin, cleaning the skin of dirt, excess oil, makeup and impurities. However, it doesn't strip the skin of its essential moisture, leaving the complexion feeling soft, supple and hydrated. While my bathroom makes home to a huge 1L bottle (pictured) of this cleanser, I would pick up a travel-friendly 118ml version from the airport to allow for easy travels.

RRP: £3.49 for 100ml
Micellar water is a non-negotiable in my skincare routine on days when I'm wearing makeup. I use it as my first step to effortlessly melt away makeup, even stubborn formulas like the best waterproof mascara. Like the cleanser, I have a 700ml bottle at home, but for my travels, I'd opt for a smaller 100ml bottle.

RRP: £8.80
If I could only buy one thing from this list, it would be La Roche-Posay's Cicaplast Baume B5+ Balm. This multi-tasking cream is a staple within my skincare arsenal and many other beauty editors would agree. It boasts a thicker, richer formula that does a stellar job at hydrating, soothing and repairing the complexion.

RRP: £9.33
La Roche-Posay's Ambre Solaire Super UV Over Makeup Sun Protection Face Mist SPF50+ is an essential for those jetting away to warmer climates. This lightweight mist offers high protection SPF 50 and can be applied onto either bare skin or over the top of makeup. In fact, it's completely weightless on the skin, making top-ups a breeze.

RRP: £78.90 for 50ml
It always delights me to find my signature scent in Duty Free, so much so that I always treat myself to a cheeky spritz as I'm waltzing through. If you know me, you'll know that I love the entire Narciso Rodriguez For Her fragrance lineup – and nothing beats the original. This fruity floral scent blends notes of rose, peach, amber and musk for a versatile and timeless feminine perfume.

RRP: £11.99
One of our team's favourite L'Oréal products, the iconic Telescopic Mascara would naturally find its way into my basket during my airport beauty sweep. As someone who prefers lengthened, separated lashes, this mascara is always a trusted option. It boasts a smudge-resistant, long-lasting formula that gives your eyes that wide-eyed, awakened appearance. Plus, its slimline packaging makes it a great option for your travels.

RRP: £4.99
Out of all the concealers I've tried, from high-end to budget, this is the one I always find myself returning to. It does everything I need it to do, offering full coverage that still looks natural – not appearing cakey or heavy. The XL doe-foot applicator also allows for easy applications. And for the price? I seriously can't fault this formula.

RRP: £46
This marbled blush from Hourglass is known for its seamlessly lightweight and airy formula that delivers a multi-dimensional, soft-focus finish. With four shades to choose from, this blush imparts a natural flush of colour onto the apples of your cheeks, aiding a fresh, youthful, glowing appearance.

RRP: £28.50
For the lips, I'd opt for a 2-in-1 formula that can do it all - ie. hydration and colour. Enter, the NARS Afterglow Lip Balm. This lightweight balm is enriched with Monoï Hydrating Complex and antioxidants that allow for smooth, supple and comfortable wear all day long. Its buttery texture glides on to reveal a natural lustrous shine and a impressive flush of colour.
