The Duchess of Sussex gave Idris Elba a playlist featuring Whitney Houston and West Coast rap before the Luther star DJed at her wedding to Prince Harry.
The actor attended the couple’s wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19 2018 and took over the decks at the evening reception at Frogmore House.
"A lot of tunes went off,” the star told BBC Radio 1Xtra’s DJ Ace, adding: "Meghan sent me a playlist with some bare tunes on it.”
Elba revealed that the list included Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody and “some West Coast” rap but did not share further details of any specific artists, telling Ace that it would not be “fair” on the royal couple.
“I’m not gonna put their business out like that, that’s not fair,” he laughed when asked if the list had included Tupac or Dr Dre.
“Ask Meghan and Harry.”
The actor previously revealed that he had believed the Prince to be “joking” when he asked him to DJ at the special occasion.
“Harry came to a couple of parties that I DJ-ed and he was like, ‘Hey man, what are you doing on [May 19]?” Elba told Ellen DeGeneres in an appearance on her US talk show earlier this year.
“And I go, ‘Ah nothing.’ And he goes, ‘Hmm, would you DJ at my wedding?’
“I was like, ‘Is this a joke? Are you joking?’”
Elba was joined by his then-fiancee Sabrina Dhowre at the royal event, which was also attended by celebrities including Tom Hardy and wife Charlotte Riley, Victoria and David Beckham, Serena Williams and George and Amal Clooney.
