Idris Elba red-faced at Lorraine Kelly's incredibly crude comment in 'naughty' interview

Lorraine Kelly left Idris Elba red-faced when she made an accidental innuendo as they discussed the James Bond rumours that continue to circulate around the British actor.

The Luther star sat down with the Scottish presenter to discuss his latest TV project Hijack - but the interview was interrupted when the pair burst into laughter over Lorraine's "naughty" remark.

Lorraine suggested Idris could star as another iconic James Bond character rather than the 007 spy himself.

“You keep getting asked about James Bond, can we turn it on its head? I think you’d be an amazing baddie in James Bond. I was going to say that I can see you stroking a white pussy [cat] but I shouldn’t really say that because that’s naughty and rude!” Lorraine quipped.

"We'll take that out," she remarked as the pair erupted into laugher.

Lorraine put her head in her hands and struggled to compose herself.

The actor replied: “I’ve got it in my head, the image."

"I'm so sorry," Lorraine quipped before telling the actor he'd make a "great James Bond baddie".

"[It’s] interesting because the bad guys are just as iconic as the James Bond character. And now I’m just excited about being in a meme with you for the rest of our lives, high five!”

Idris went on to open up about his new role in the series Hijack as Lorraine branded his character a "reluctant hero".

Idris said: “I thought that was very attractive in the beginning, this isn’t a guy that can fight or is an action hero, this is a man that’s in a situation and he’s just trying to get home and he just sort of applies himself.

“He’s not afraid to tell everyone that he’s afraid and he’s a bit vulnerable in it.”

The actor later confirmed Luther's fate after the success of the BBC series and subsequent movie.

When asked if there's more in store for Luther, Idris said: “Yeah that’s the plan. Thankfully for ten years fans have really encouraged John Luther as a TV show and they came out for the movie. I love that character!”
