Idris Elba: I’ve been inseparable from Sabrina since we met

Idris Elba has opened up about his relationship with wife Sabrina Dhowre, declaring they are “inseparable”.

Elba tied the knot with the American model at the Ksar Char Bagh hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco in April, two years after meeting at a bar in Vancouver, Canada where he was shooting The Mountain Between Us.

“We’ve been literally inseparable since we met. Inseparable,” he told British Vogue as he shared stunning images from their big day.

“You know, I’m 47 this year, been married and lived a full life before I even met Sabrina. It wasn’t something that I wanted to do, get married again. But…”

He praised his new wife with bringing out the best in him and helping him to better “connect” with his friends.

“Sabrina has deepened friendships with people I’ve known longer than [her], nurturing the best side of me to make me connect to my friends more,” he said.

Elba popped the question to Dhowre in February before a preview of his directorial debut Yardie. He got down on one knee and proposed on the stage of Dalston’s Rio Cinema.

The couple were reportedly gifted a $9,000 piece of artwork by the Connor Brothers as a wedding present from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Elba attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May last year, and was tasked with sorting the music for the reception.

“That was an incredible experience,” he told British Vogue. “I was curating the music for that night, so it was a bit of pressure, but it was great. A vibe.”

Elba was previously married to Hanne Norgaard and Sonya Hamlin.
