Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre make their Met Gala debut as a married couple days after Moroccan wedding

Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre made their Met Gala carpet debut as a married couple, a week after they tied the knot in Morocco.

The Luther actor said "I do" on April 26 in Marrakesh, with Dhowre sharing pictures from the special ceremony as she hailed it the “best day of her life”.

Elba and his new bride posed together at this year’s Met Gala on Monday night as they paid tribute to the Camp: Notes on Fashion theme.

Elba wore a black suit with a patterned jacket, while Dhowre was head-to-toe in a pink metallic gown, complete with pink hair.

Their appearance came a day after they turned heads at the Ozwald Boateng Harlem Runway Show, also in New York.

At the end of last month, Elba and Dhowre let Vogue in on their special day as they married at the Ksar Char Bagh hotel in Marrakesh.

The pair, who got engaged last February, looked loved up as Elba donned a bespoke suit for his vows while Dhowre was pictured in an off-the-shoulder white gown.

Dhowre later shared a series of snaps from their Moroccan ceremony, thanking “everyone who made it so special”.

Close friend Maya Jama gave fans a glimpse of the special day as she shared videos of Edward Enninful on the dance floor with Elba and Dhowre, who showed off their moves to Love on Top followed by Vossi Bop.

Elba briefly features in the video for Vossi Bop, a track released by Stormzy last week, which earned him his first UK number one.
