A group of people were branded "idiots" for lighting a bonfire on school playing fields close to people's homes.
Firefighters were called to St Greggs Playing Field in Netherley at 1am on Wednesday, March 31, after a bonfire was started there.
Crews quickly managed to extinguish the fire by throwing buckets of water over it.
Residents have slammed those responsible for wasting the emergency services' time.
Commenting on what happened in a community group on Facebook, one person wrote: "Disgusting idiots."
Another said: "Idiots making the community look bad."
The incident came as the region experienced a mini-heatwave with temperatures soaring up to 20 degrees on Tuesday.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have issued a warning to people spending time outdoors over the Easter break to help prevent grass fires.

The force tweeted on Tuesday: "If you're spending time outdoors over the Easter break, be sure to respect your surroundings and help us to prevent grass fires.
"Remember: Take your litter home with you, dispose of cigarettes properly, DON'T light fires in open countryside or woodland - this includes BBQs."
