Idiot thugs launch fireworks at Scots high rise leaving residents and pets terrified

Residents were left terrified after idiots launched fireworks at a Scots high rise block in the early hours.

Locals were left cowering inside the tower block in the Cairncry area of Aberdeen after they were woken by a barrage of explosives at around 12.25am on Wednesday morning.

One resident said thugs left up to 50 fireworks in one blast, as pyrotechnics were seen exploding close to the buildings.

In dramatic pictures, yellow sparks can be seen close to the towering building.

Online locals blasted the 'idiots'.

One man wrote: "Fireworks let off at this time. Absolutely reckless aiming at the buildings.

Another said: "Fireworks were exploding right outside my window. I didn’t get a wink of sleep afterwards and my animals were traumatised.

"Third night in a row it’s happened."

A third said it wasn't the first time it had happened in the area.

She wrote: "They were so close to the windows at Rosehill Court. Poor animals and people that were woken up by them. Was the same 2am Sunday morning."

Sarah Freeland wrote: "My kids love fireworks but they should only be on the one night in a safe place and at a decent time.

"Idiots with no respect for anyone are spoiling it for everyone else."

Another said: "Thank god whoever it was that got them to stop, the guy was going crazy at the two that were letting the fireworks go off. My dog was petrified for two hours after this."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 00.23am on Wednesday, 4 November, 2020, we received a report of fireworks being set off in Cairncry Court, Aberdeen.

“Officers attended but there was no trace of anyone in the area.”

The unauthorised display came as cops found another stash of fireworks near a primary school in the city.

A cache of fireworks were found abandoned near Muirfield Primary School with the apparent owners making a quick escape when police arrived.

Inspector Simon Lewis-Dalby, from Manor Park Community Policing Team said;"Leaving them is even more irresponsible than letting them off in the first place as they could have been found by anyone. It’s a large box of fireworks which would have been provided or purchased by an adult or is missing from someone’s house.

"We will continue our patrols as part of Operation Moonbeam and remain vigilant regarding fireworks use."

With the ongoing coronavirus crisis organised displays for November 5 have been cancelled.
