Identity of man with 'Stephen' and 'mum' tattoos a mystery after body found on Paisley hospital grounds

Police have appealed for help in identifying the body a young man with distinctive tattoos found on the grounds of a hospital yesterday.

He's between 20 and 30 years old and has the name 'Stephen' inked on his right forearm and 'mum' with a green rose on the outer left forearm.

Detectives are anxious to find his family while the investigation into his "unexplained" death continue.

The grim discovery was made at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Infirmary at 7.20am yesterday.

The man is described as thin, wearing a blue hooded top with a zip, black tracksuit bottoms and black Nike trainers. He was also wearing a crucifix around his neck.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross of Paisley Police Station said: "Sadly, despite our enquiries so far, we have been unable to identify this man.

"We want to establish his identity in order to update his next of kin.

"We are liaising with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as part of these enquiries and the man is not believed to have been a patient at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Wednesday."

If you can help call police immediately on 101.
