Ideas to keep the kids entertained indoors over the weekend

It can be hard to keep children occupied while they are at home - especially at the weekend in the middle of a pandemic.

There is only so much TV they can watch, and it is good to get them away from the screens for a while.

Now, thankfully, Be has put together a list of fun activities to try with your little ones to keep them entertained.

As a result, you should be able to spend some much-needed quality time with them.

And what's more - it won't cost you a thing.

Bake together

Most children have a sweet tooth, so why not get out the recipe books and bake with your little ones.

Toddlers love playing in the kitchen along with older kids, and it may help them want to try new foods, too, knowing that they helped to make it.

Paint

There's no doubt kids love anything messy, so painting is perfect.

Make use of their hands, leaves, toilet roll holders or anything else you can find to make different shapes.

Alternatively, help the children paint their own designs on some rocks to make nice keepsakes.

Treasure Hunt

Hide some objects in each room in the house and time how long it takes them to find everything.

There does not need to be any elaborate clues - nor anything expensive that you need to buy in advance.

Instead, use objects you already have, like their favourite games, toys or snacks.

Create an obstacle course

Children love being active, so create a treasure hunt in the garden or even inside so they can jump over or under the obstacles.

They can have fun while crawling, climbing and jumping.

Make a quiz

Create a fun quiz for your kids related to their favourite hobbies, foods and shows.

This can be fun for parents or older siblings to join in, too. It can help them use their brains for something other than homework.

Dress up

Get out the dressing up box - kids love dressing up.

And don't be shy - why not put a costume on yourself and join in with the kids?

Build a fort

Building a fort is always going to be a winner, as children love having their own den to play in.

Give your kids some pillows, cushions and blankets and see what they are able to come up with.

Wash toys

Fill a bath or the sink with some warm soapy water and get the kids to throw all of their toys in.

Get them to help you give it all a good scrub and dry them off. Although kids may hate the idea of cleaning, they'll probably enjoy it when they know their favourite things to play with will come out squeaky clean!

It's productive and will help get rid of any germs.

Help with laundry

Lots of parents use the weekend to catch up on washing and drying.

Instead of doing this chore alone, entertain the kids and the same time get them to sort the clothes into different colours.

Join in with dance videos

Children love YouTube, so it's a great idea to get them active while watching videos, instead of just laying around.

Find some fun dance routines and get the kids to join in. They will burn off some energy while enjoying themselves.
