ID verification specialist GBG set for expectation-busting results

Chester-based identify verification specialist GBG, which works with the likes of Nike, HSBC, Harrods and Bentley, is on track to report forecast-beating results for its current financial year.

The AIM-listed company has issued a trading update for its performance so far in its year to March 31, 2021.

In the statement, the business revealed that trading as been "stronger than anticipated" since it published its half-year results in December.

In particular, the company's Identity division benefitted materially through January and early February from increased transaction volumes "driven by the well-publicised spike" in bitcoin market activity and retail share trading in the US and Europe.

It also saw a positive impact from the financial stimulus packages in the US.

As a result of this, the Board has said it now believes the financial results for the full-year will be ahead of consensus expectations with forecast revenues to be at least £213m and operating profit above £53m.

A further update is expected to be published in the week starting 19 April while its full-year results are expected to be revealed in June.

GBG also works with the likes of Tesco, IBM, PayPal and Waitrose.
