Mark Dantonio’s words in the press conference above are an absolute must-watch. Michigan State’s head coach came right out and addressed the elephant in the room and challenged the offense to play better:
“Football is a game of effort, toughness and knowing what to do. Half of our team figured that out, half of our team didn’t. We’ll make sure the other half figures that out this week,” said Dantonio.
It’s pretty clear who Dantonio is referring to here, and it wasn’t the defense, who put up a historic evening of football.
Dantonio didn’t criticize Brad Salem, although Salem was critical of his own performance. MSU’s coach did point a finger at the effort, particularly on the offensive line:
“Not good enough,” Dantonio said regarding the offensive line. “(They) gotta get on the right people. You play football with effort and toughness and too much of that to me was lacking and I’m going to call that as I see it up here right now. We’ve got to send a message to our football team.”
