Icy patches expected across Edinburgh and Lothians with Met Office warning in-place

Icy patches are expected across Edinburgh and the Lothians on Monday, with a yellow Met Office weather warning in place.

Freezing conditions are forecast throughout the area with "some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces" likely.

Experts at the Met Office add that there will "probably" be icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, and some road and rail travel may be affected as a result.

The weather warning was put in place at midnight, and it is expected to continue until at least 10am this morning.

In Edinburgh, temperatures are expected to be around 3C or 4C for much of the day, but feeling like -1C or -2C at times – so it's a day to wrap up extra warm for sure.

Things are likely to stay dry throughout, with sunshine expected for the most part.
