The iconic Dalkey Lobster Festival will not be taking place later this month as expected.
On an evening of bad news for local businesses which has left publicans across the country devastated, organisers of the famed south Dublin seafood fair made the announcement that this year's festival has been called off.
The hardworking people behind the long-running festival took to their social media platforms to make the sad announcement shortly after the Government made theirs.
They posted: "It is with a heavy heart that we have to concede that the 2020 Dalkey Lobster Festival will not be taking place this August 21-23.
"We hope to have more positive news concerning the event at a later date.
"We would like to thank all the supporters who turn up in their 000’s to celebrate this festival every August.
"Additionally, we would also like to thank FLAG North East, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the Church of the Assumption for their continued support of the festival."
It comes after Micheal Martin announced that Phase 4 of Ireland's reopening is delayed at least until September.
Bars and nightclubs remain closed, as do hotel bars and casinos. Indoor gatherings remain limited to a maximum of 50 people while outdoor events are still capped at 200 revellers.
