Leeds United makeover planned for iconic Red Bus Cafe which could see it transformed into a Bielsa bus

The owner of an iconic Leeds landmark has confirmed plans to repaint the A64 Red Bus Cafe and turn into a Leeds United themed attraction.

The move by Danny Care comes just months after he said he would not change the double-decker bus but he now admits the bus is in need of a new look.

Although, the design has not been confirmed yet, the Leeds United superfan has said it may go from being a red bus to having white, yellow and blue design in honour of Leeds United’s recent promotion.

Three other Leeds United inspired designs could see the whole bus painted white with the teams founding date added.

A vote was conducted asking whether the bus should have its design changed and 65 per cent said yes. However, others argued it should remain red.

He said: “A lot of people have been saying they don’t want the red bus to change. I did a vote on it and it was 65 per cent to change.

“I think they thought it was just going to be white but it would have Leeds United design.

“I’m a Leeds fan myself but it needs to change. It looks old and run down.

"Because its called the Red Bus Cafe people think we should leave it. It doesn't look bad with the white, red and blue and a picture of Bielsa.

"It needs doing.

"If its going to be changed it needs to be Leeds United.

"It will be done within one or two weeks."

Danny bought the cafe in March, just days before the country was placed into a national lockdown due to the coronavirus.

Instead of the usual transport cafe offerings, the Red Bus began selling kebabs, brisket wraps, pulled pork and burgers.

At the back of the bus there is a small shrine to Leeds United but Danny hopes once the bus is redesigned, Marcelo Bielsa could visit and he will name a burger after him.

He added: “There’s a guy who comes in and says he talks to Bielsa. He might ask him to see if he will come down. He seems to be approachable.

“It would be good if he pops down. I’ll make a Bielsa Burger.”

We'll keep you posted about the proposed new look for the bus.
