Iconic Las Vegas Strip Resort Casino Set For Overhaul

Las Vegas Strip resort casinos have grown so large that once a company finishes remodeling a property, it's almost time to do it again.

In many ways, the premier properties on the Strip are in a sort of constant maintenance mode, Rooms are endlessly being refreshed, paint gets touched up, and endless tweaks are put in place.

In other cases, a resort casino owner looks to make a splash with a remodel. That  recently happened on a grand scale as Caesars Entertainment (CZR) rebranded the Bally's as Horseshoe.

This wasn't just a case of Caesars slapping on a new name. It overhauled the resort, making big changes to the casino floor and adding a new take on a sportsbook with a restaurant from Guy Fieri. The Strip giant also added a steakhouse themed to the Vegas icon Jack Binion and an all-ages arcade.

Similar remodels happen all the time, with Circus Circus getting a modest, at least by Las Vegas Strip standards, $30 million overhaul. Now, one of the higher-end Las Vegas Strip players has plans to make some massive improvements.

MGM Resorts International (MGM) plans to spend $110 million at its Bellagio resort casino on what it's calling a transformation of its Spa Tower Rooms and Suites.

Bellagio Looks to Elevate Its Luxury Hospitality Experience

Bellagio sits at the top tier of Las Vegas elegance. It's a AAA Five Demand resort that just finished remodeling more than 2,500 guest rooms in its main tower.

That remodel was inspired by the resort's famous fountains.

"[The] new designs take inspiration from the movement of water, the beauty of nature and the vibrant reflections of light seen at sunrise and set," the company said in a news release. "Featuring a luxurious oversized shower, dual sinks, a built-in closet, and an activity table, Bellagio's new guest rooms reflect thoughtful use of each space."

"Bellagio visitors are among the world's most discerning travelers, and we want to ensure our guest rooms speak to their needs and desires for years to come," Bellagio Chief Operating Officer Ann Hoff said.

Now, Bellagio has unveiled the next steps in its remodel: a "$110 million transformation of all rooms and suites within its luxurious Spa Tower, delivering contemporary accommodations inspired by the beauty and tranquility of Italy’s Lake Como."

What's Next for Bellagio?

The Spa Tower redesign involves 819 guest rooms and 104 suites. It's slated for completion in October, with the first collection of rooms available for guest stays beginning in July.

Designed by the New York interior-design atelier Champalimaud Design in partnership with MGM Resorts International Design Group, the Bellagio Spa Tower suites will feature "sophisticated design elements, custom furnishings and art influenced by high Italian style and couture, while color palettes draw inspiration from the natural vibrancy of Lake Como and the Alps."

“We wanted to create a residential aesthetic with the timeless sense of luxury that is uniquely Bellagio. We found inspiration in the colors of Lake Como’s surrounding flora and the classical style of the building’s architecture,” Winston Kong, a partner at Champalimaud Design, said.

The Spa Tower redesign will include a number of different suites. These include the 850-square-foot Salon Suites; 1,000-square-foot Bellagio Suites; 1,500-square-foot penthouses; 1,500-square-foot two-bedroom Bellagio Suites; and 2,500-square-foot Executive Hospitality Suites, which feature billiards lounges and home theater living areas for entertaining.

The Bellagio redesign/remodel will finish in 2024 with the redesign of the Bellagio Tower’s about 400 suites, a project that also will be brought to life by the team at Champalimaud Design.
