Iconic Edinburgh pub to reopen nearly two months after devastating Old Town fire

A popular Edinburgh pub has announced today it will reopen nearly two months after the devastating Old Town fire.

Frankenstein Pub Edinburgh on George IV Bridge shut earlier this year after a ferocious inferno ripped through the surrounding buildings.

The damage affected many businesses and took the fire brigade days to control, with surrounding streets staying completely closed to traffic.

The pub took to Facebook today writing: “We are very excited to announce that we are reopening our doors today at 5pm!

“We will also be open from 5pm onwards this weekend with just the Main Bar and Mezzanine open whilst we get back into the swing of things.

“Much like the film, it turns out the monster isn't a big fan of fire and will unfortunately be out of action for another week or so until we can ensure his safe return.

“We'd like to thank everyone for their support and kind messages whilst we've been closed! We truly felt the love over the last 6 weeks or so!

“We can't wait to see you all! #frankenstein #reopening.”

The pub had posted a teaser featuring a picture of their own giant Frankenstein that can usually be found when you walk in, teasing big news and announcing the reopening today.

Locals were clearly excited to see the institution reopen its doors and just in time for Halloween.

Sadly earlier this year Oz Bar located just below Frankenstein Pub on Candlemaker Row announced they would be closing their doors for good following the devastation and damage from the fire.
