Iconic Edinburgh city centre red phone box goes on sale for £7.5k

Good news everyone, we may have just found the most affordable property on Edinburgh's housing market.

Yup - a property for just £7.5k slap bang in the centre of Edinburgh.

The property description? How many bedrooms? Well... it's a phone box.

That's right, a historic listed "K6" red phone box or “Jubilee” kiosk has gone up for sale outside the National Library of Scotland on George IV Bridge.

The iconic red phone box is 8ft 3ins high and 3ft square and was originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, Battersea Power Station and Bankside Power Station now Tate Modern.

Similar phone boxes are on sale on England as well and many have been transformed into coffee shops, libraries, museums, bakeries, and defibrillators.

In Cheltenham, 10 red phone boxes have been transformed into miniature art galleries, showcasing the work of local artists.

According to property agents BidX1 - you own the kiosk and can resell at any point, but it is heritage site, so cannot remove the phone box or alter the exterior as it is registered as a Listed Building.

Bidding for the phone box kicks off on April 27 at 11am with the guide price coming in at £7,500 - you can view the full property info here.
