A 130-year-old Dublin pub that was sold for €3 million is set to be redeveloped.
Uncle Tom’s Cabin in Dundrum was bought by Galway developer Padraic Rhatigan and financier Stewart Doyle last week.
The iconic pub is located in an area zoned for residential development in the popular south Dublin location, the Irish Times reports.
The pub was sold by the family of veteran publican Tony Collins who is set to retire. The pub had been in the family since 1890.
It is reported that the new owners plan on keeping the pub open for now until a decision is made on what type of scheme the planning permission will be sought for.
The pub along with a large car park adjacent to it was bought by UTC Developments- a company that was set up by the buyers specifically for the deal.
