Iconic city building where Hooters restaurant is based set for revamp

Part of the iconic city building which houses the Hooters restaurant is set for a revamp.

The factory conversion, at the corner of London Road and Queen's Road, accommodates four large apartment blocks - and improvements are in the pipeline for three of the blocks.

The proposed works include removing timber balcony decking to be replaced with an aluminium alternative.

Changes would also be made to the external cladding, if plans to make the improvements are approved by the city council.

The applicant is listed in the planning application as Mr R Protheroe, of Geoarc Ltd.

Hooters opened in 1998 in London Road, before Canadian comedian and former Hooters girl Katherine Ryan helped move the venue to the Hicking Building in 2006 - where it has remained ever since.

It's now the only Hooters in the UK - and staff recently spoke of the restaurant's success.
