ICG, Kolkata interacts and distributes national flags among students, fishermen for Independence Day celebration

KOLKATA: As part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ drive under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav's initiative of the government of India, Indian Coast Guard Regional Headquarters North East at Kolkata interacted with students of schools and colleges in Kolkata, Paradip, Gopalpur and Haldia.

During these interactions the students were briefed about the history of the country and the flag code. The students participated enthusiastically in these interactions wherein national flags were distributed to commemorate the 75 years of Independence.

Simultaneously, the Coast Guard District Headquarters at West Bengal and Odisha undertook Community Interaction Programmes (CIPs) at various fishing villages along the coast of the two coastal states wherein, fisher folks were apprised about the importance of the National campaign and the role which the fishing community plays towards the security of the nation. National flags were distributed to the fisher folks, followed by flag hoisting.

Additionally, walkathons and cycle rallies are being conducted at Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Gopalpur and Frazerganj. All Coast Guard buildings including offices and residential areas are being decorated in National colours in the two states of West Bengal and Odisha between 11-17 August 22.
