Iceland to open Food Warehouse store at former Sainsbury's development site

Iceland is to open one of its Food Warehouse stores at a North Wales site that had previously been earmarked for a Sainsbury's store.

The brand is coming to Mold's former Kwik Save site in Chester Road - with the opening planned for October 1.

The site was originally bought by Sainsbury’s in 2012 with plans to build a 300 job store and petrol station.

But they pulled the plug on the scheme last summer and plans for a new retail development put forward.

Home Bargains have recently opened at the site with The Food Warehouse to join them this autumn.

Recruitment is now underway at the store - with 30 jobs due to be created. This is being supported by Job Centre Plus.

The Food Warehouse concept is a mixture of the cash-and-carry format and the established Iceland style.

The retailer - Wales's biggest employer - is expanding the chain across the UK.
