Iceland store closes for emergency deep clean after customer falls ill

An Iceland store has closed immediately to undergo a deep clean after a woman fell ill inside the shop.

The store at Liscard Crescent in Wallasey, shut its doors as a precaution this afternoon and will not reopen until tomorrow.

A spokesperson from the store said "there is no indication at this time" that it is related to coronavirus.

Deliveries may be affected as a result of the incident, while shoppers are being asked not to call the store.

Posting on the store's Facebook page, a spokesperson said: "Hello. Due to an incident in store we are currently closed until further notice.

"This has impacted our Deliveries and you may either get your delivery earlier than you are expecting it.

"Please don't call store as your call won't be answered."

In a further update this afternoon, a spokesperson said: "Further on from our post before. A lady fell ill in our shop.

"As a precaution we have remained closed to clean the store. There is no indication at this time this is related to Covid-19.

"This is has been done for the safety of our staff and you as customers. We will reopen as normal tomorrow."
