Iceland slashes prices of Christmas veg to just 1p a packet - beating Lidl and Aldi

Iceland has slashed the prices of their Christmas veg to just one penny a packet in a bid to beat other retailer prices in the build up to Christmas.

The UK food retailer is offering the discount across all of their fresh and frozen vegetables that are priced under £1 for shoppers when they purchase three packs online.

Iceland has said that their epic savings are exclusively for online shoppers only and will be available until midnight tonight - meaning there is still time to make sure no Christmas dinner plate is missing anything this year.

As of yesterday, shoppers can get in their festive staples such as Iceland Sprouts (900g) and Iceland Parsnips (660g) for just 1p a packet.

The massive price drops comes as multiple major supermarkets across the country drop prices across a range of veg in what is now known as "The Christmas veg price war."

Both Aldi and Lidl have recently dropped their Christmas veg prices to as little as 19p a packet - meaning Iceland's deal is currently 18p cheaper.

The supermarket are currently the cheapest offering in the "Christmas Veg Price War" (Iceland)

To access the deal, Iceland has stated that shoppers just simply need to add three packs of their chosen Christmas vegetables to their online basket and enter the code ‘ICE1VEG’ when they checkout to receive their discount.

Iceland's one penny sale comes after they recently announced that 180,000 delivery slots had been made available for shoppers looking to get in their Christmas dinner between now and Christmas Eve.

Managing Director Richard Walker said: "Christmas has become more important than ever this year, with families having lost out on precious time together last time around.

That’s why we’re delighted to support our customers by cutting the costs of their festive feasts whilst also releasing a further 180,000 delivery slots between now and Christmas Eve.

It isn’t just about winning the battle for the cheapest supermarket veg – we wanted to make sure that everyone is able to have a brilliant Christmas with their loved ones without having to worry about the monetary hangover that often follows.”
