Iceland's new Christmas range puts weird and wonderful twist on festive foods

Forget the presents and the time off work, the best thing about Christmas is surely all the incredible food.

But for everyone that wants to add a bit more excitement to their traditional turkey dinner this year, Iceland has just unveiled some very intriguing new additions to its 2019 Christmas range.

Mixing up the usual meat and three veg, Iceland supermarkets have taken classic Christmas foods and made them ten times more exciting, such as turning tasteless sprouts into a tempura triumph.

We've picked out some of our favourite takes on festive items from Iceland's 2019 Christmas range below, from innovative vegan offerings, to meat masterpieces, and party food you can be proud of.

If Willy Wonka made Christmas dinner, it would probably look like this...

Tempura sprouts

Love them or hate them, last year Iceland created Marmite sprouts, and this year it's taken things one step further by giving them a fresh Japanese twist.

A one-of-a-kind creation, bitter brussel sprouts have been coated with a light and crispy batter in a transformation we've not seen anywhere else.

Pork stuffing log

Like meat? Then you'll love this, as Iceland has decided to sell a huge log of beautifully seasoned pork, sage and onion stuffing wrapped in salty, crispy bacon.

A striking centrepiece for the dinner table, its handy shape also makes it nice and easy to cut and serve.

Festive pie

A genius piece of modern art, this features all the components of a Christmas dinner , somehow squeezed into a pie. Appearances include roast turkey, a pig-in-blanket, sprouts, cranberries, smoked bacon, onions, peas, carrots and even stuffing. Madness. The only thing that's missing is a Yorkshire...

No bull burger sliders

Iceland is well known for its extensive vegan offerings, with one of the stars of the show being their No Bull burgers. So for Christmas, they're now here in mini form. Iceland's vegan burger sliders are made using plant protein and taste almost as much like the real thing as they look.

Roast dinner Yorkshire pudding

If you don't have time to cook up a whole Christmas dinner for one but refuse to miss out on a Yorkshire, Iceland also has another innovative way of putting a whole roast dinner into something... a huge Yorkshire pudding filled with a beef, potatoes, gravy and vegetables.

A great one for those celebrating alone, people that find it tough to chop and cook and of course, anyone working the Christmas night shift.

Luxury five gold rings dessert

Chocolate fans - this one's for you. Essentially a pudding made with all the chocolate you could ever ask for, it features Belgian dark chocolate mousse on a dark chocolate cookie base, covered in a golden dark chocolate shell.

And if that wasn't enough, it also comes with a dark chocolate sauce that spirals down the rings and pools in a rim around the bottom.

Maybe heaven is a place on earth after all.
