Located on Iceland’s remote Troll Peninsula, the 13-room converted sheep farm is taking bookings again from June 15 - which could make it the perfect summer escape.
But it’s not for the cash poor. Summer rates start from £1,370 per person, per night and include customised itineraries, all gear for the itineraries, pre-arrival planning with an experience manager, all meals, drinks (including house alcohol) as well as daily housekeeping and airport transfers.
Due to the remote nature and private experiences, it’s easy to socially distance yourself from other guests while there, but if you’re feeling flush, you can always take over the entire lodge for yourself and your nearest and dearest, if you wish.
Iceland has had just 1,804 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 10 deaths - none in the Troll Peninsula. All guests to Deplar Farm will be tested for the virus on arrival.
While advice from the UK government remains that all Brits should avoid any unnecessary overseas travel, the Icelandic government is looking to ease its border restrictions from June 15, with the Icelandic Tourist Board saying: “Travellers are expected to be given the choice of being tested for the virus upon arrival, or otherwise prove that they are free of the coronavirus infection.”
However, with new quarantine regulations being implemented by the UK from June 8, it means any international arrivals will need to quarantine themselves for two weeks when returning to Britain.
Greece is also welcoming tourists to the country from June 15 and today we reported that the UK could be ‘in talks’ with Portugal over a proposed air bridge between the nations.
