Iceland removes Greggs sausage rolls from shelves over plastic fears

Iceland has removed packs of Greggs sausage rolls from its shelves after a food safety warning.

The warning applies to packs of 16 frozen mini sausage rolls that are exclusively sold in Iceland stores.

It does not affect products being sold in Greggs bakeries, or other Greggs products sold in Iceland.

A Food Safety Agency alert says that the affected items were "unsafe to eat", reports Wales Online.

The FSA said: "Greggs is recalling its frozen Mini Sausage Rolls (16 Pack) because they may contain small pieces of plastic.

"The presence of plastic could present a choking hazard, makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk. This product is exclusively sold in Iceland Stores and does not affect the products sold in Greggs."

Customers who have have the contaminated sausage rolls are being asked to return it to the Iceland store where it was bought for a full refund.
