Iceland recalls selection of chicken products after salmonella discovered

Iceland have issued a serious recall on a selection of their frozen chicken products after salmonella was found in the range.

The supermarket has asked customers to urgently return or dispose of their own brand Chip Shop Curry Chicken Breast Toppers and Southern Fried Chicken Popsters after their risk to health.

The Food Standards Agency today issued details of both of the products which were found to contain salmonella.

Those with the chicken breast toppers should look out for best before dates of 27 February 2021, 17 March 2021 and 8 April 2021. If these are printed on the product, it should be returned immediately.

The best before date on the contaminated chicken popsters is the 4 April 2021.

Salmonella can be an extremely serious type of bacterial disease most likely to be contracted through consuming water or food.

In some cases, the disease will cause symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhea, however in some cases the dehydration associated with salmonella can cause life threatening complications.

Today, the Food Standards Agency said:

"If you have bought any of the above products do not consume them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund or contact Iceland Customer Care line on 0800 328 0800 and select option 2."
