Iceland recalling vegetable lasagne over fears it may contain pieces of plastic or rubber

Iceland is recalling batches of vegetable lasagne over fears it may contain pieces of rubber or plastic.

The frozen food retailer issued the alert for batches of the lasagne with a best before date of August 3, 2021.

The product comes in a 500g pack size and originated in France.

A notice posted on the Food Safety Authority of Ireland's (FSAI) website read: "Iceland is   recalling the above batch of its Vegetable Lasagne, due to the possible presence of plastic/rubber.

"Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches."

The food watchdog added: "The product may contain small pieces of plastic or rubber which may make the product unsafe to eat."

Last week, Iceland issued another recall for a number of spring roll products over allergy concerns.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) announced the chain would be recalling batches of its Diggers Oriental Duck Spring Rolls and Diggers Oriental Vegetable Spring Rolls products over undeclared milk.

The FSAI has warned the affected batches may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or its constituents.

The affected batches are: Diggers Oriental Duck Spring Rolls, pack size: 40 x 60g, best before dates from 15.02.2020 to 07.02.2021 inclusive, approval number: IE 4025 EC.

A statement on the FSAI website reads: "Pan Euro Foods is recalling the above batches of Diggers Oriental Duck Spring Rolls and Diggers Oriental Vegetable Spring Rolls, as milk is an ingredient but is not declared in the ingredients list.

"The implicated batches were sold to wholesalers and caterers, and potentially some retailers."

Wholesalers/distributors have been told to contact their customers and recall the affected batches and provide a point-of-sale notice to their retailer customers.

Caterers should inform their customers of the presence of milk in the implicated batches.

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores where these batches were sold.
