Iceland selling red hot chicken wings containing the world's hottest chilli

Temperatures are climbing this week and a certain supermarket is also feeling hot, hot, hot with a new product launch.

In the same week it launched its , Iceland has just launched, what it is claiming are the spiciest chicken wings in UK supermarkets this summer.

The frozen food store's Red Hot Chicken Wings are made using the world’s hottest chilli, the infamous Carolina Reaper, and score over 575,000 on the Scoville Scale.

The wings follow the success of Iceland’s Red Hot Chilli Chicken Thighs recipe last summer which made headlines and caused a storm on social media with Brits dying to put their taste buds to the test.

Iceland’s team of development chefs were convinced they had brought the heat last year.

However, following reports on social media from brave Brits who claimed they could handle the fiery spice, they were inspired to dial things up a level by adding more of the world’s hottest chilli to really put those daring shoppers to the test.

Iceland's Red Hot Chicken Wings (Iceland)

The marinade is not dominated by the hotness of the chillies, Iceland say those brave enough to try the Red Hot Chicken Wings will be impressed by the flavours which cut through the heat to create a truly layered experience.

Cooked on the bone, the wings are deliciously tender and are best finished off on the BBQ, allowing them to develop a crispy char-grilled skin.

Iceland also add "BEWARE: These chicken wings are not to be taken lightly, they are seriously hot and should only be consumed under adult supervision.

"We would recommend having a pot of cooling yoghurt, a pint of milk, latex gloves, protective goggles and maybe even a fire extinguisher close to hand."
