Iceland makes generous offer to Jason Manford after Tesco job rejection

Earlier this week Jason Manford told his Twitter followers he'd applied for a role at Tesco after hearing how supermarkets needed to up their works force due to the demand of the coronavirus pandemic.

The comedian has said he "wanted to do his bit" for the community, but sadly wasn't chosen.

After Jason shared the rejection letter with fans, Tesco personally responded with a lovely message.

The spokesperson for the supermarket said that Jason's skills would have "no doubt brought a lot of joy to our customers and colleagues" and that it was a shame he hadn't made the deadline for the vacancy.

Upon seeing the news, Iceland has now got involved with a very generous offer.

The store offered a one day only role at the supermarket.

A tweet from Iceland's official account read: "Our door is always open for you. Help us out for the day and we’ll make a donation to the NHS in your name."

Iceland's managing director also tweeted: "Looking forward to welcoming @JasonManford to #TeamIceland," with Jason responding: "Seeya on the Ice...land."

Social media users have been left pretty impressed with the comedian, who has also been volunteering in his community.

One wrote: "Always had the impression you were a kindhearted soul, well done for ferrying folks around."

Another added: "Well done though for offering to do your bit."
