Iceland launches Cheeseburger Pizza combining two food favourites for just £2

Frozen food favourite Iceland is out to melt food-lovers' hearts with a new stuffed-base pizza range which includes the likes of a cheeseburger pizza and a cheese feast which have saucy surprises inside the dough.

And the price is likely to be an added attraction - the indulgent pizzas are on sale for just £2.

The cheeseburger pizza, which combines many people's favourite treats, seems particularly likely to grab the attention of shoppers.

The chain says that the 530g Super Stuffed Base Cheeseburger Pizza  is a whopping £15.99 cheaper than a similar takeaway offering and, with its ingredients including beer, cheese, gherkin and a secret burger sauce, is described as a "marriage of classic dishes".

A spokesman for the store added: "Everyone who has ever enjoyed the fast food burger staple knows this combo is a sure-fire winner.

"Marry the timeless classic with a comforting pizza and it’s game over for the competition."

The cheeseburger pizza is one of four super-stuffed pizzas in the range and - besides the cheese feast which includes mozzarella, red cheddar and mature cheddar toppings plus a red cheddar sauce in the dough base  - there is also a chicken and bacon pizza, with a BBQ sauce in its base, and a pepperoni one which contains a spicy red cheddar sauce.

However, plans for an Italy-made ultra-thin carbonara pizza option - for those who prefer a thinner crust - will not now go ahead.
