Iceland launch genius new pizza that cooks in just two and a half minutes

Domino's may soon be shaking in its shoes, as Iceland has just started selling a very innovative new pizza that cooks in less time than it takes you to brush your teeth.

The trick? It goes in the microwave.

Iceland's clever new invention is the UK's first ever stonebaked pizza that cooks in a microwave, taking just two minutes and 30 seconds to go from frozen to piping hot and ready to devour.

Rather than chewy and synthetic, Iceland claims that the game-changing new pizzas combine a light and crispy base with authentic Italian mozzarella and passata, stating that "once cooked, the crispy, yet doughy, base is something that UK shoppers have never experienced before from a microwavable pizza".

And it's not hard to believe them, considering the pizzas themselves come all the way from Italy, made in a traditional Italian wood fired oven just outside Venice, in the foothills of the Dolomites. Fancy...

Even better, they cost just £1 for a 160g pack.

Being brand new, there's only two flavours to pick from right now: margherita and pepperoni, the new freezer pizzas are already on the Iceland website and in stores across the country... just in time for Fresher's week.

The fully paper (and therefore recyclable) packaging that the pizzas come in is also on board with the brand's sustainability initiative.

Back in 2018, Iceland committed to becoming the first major retailer, globally, to eliminate plastic packaging from all of its own label products by the end of 2023, and to remove palm oil as an ingredient from its own label range by the end of 2018.

If you're shopping in store, you can get £5 off a £20 spend by downloading this voucher and showing it at the till, whilst online shoppers can bag £5 off a £40 spend by entering the code ICELAND5 at the checkout.
