Iceland issue recalls for 'no cheese' vegan products over possible presence of milk

Iceland have issued a recall of six "no cheese" vegan products due to the possible presence of milk.

The supermarket is recalling all batch numbers and all best before dates of the following items:

  • NO CHEESE Pasties 2 No Cheese & Onion Pasties, pack size: 360g 
  • NO CHEESE Houmous Style Sauce Pizza, pack size: 284g
  • NO CHEESE Mediterranean Garden Pizza, pack size: 382g
  • NO CHEESE Italian Garden Pizza, pack size: 382g
  • NO CHEESE Houmous Pizza, pack size: 284g
  • NO CHEESE Macaroni Cheese, pack size: 350g

A notice on the Food Safety Authority of Ireland's website said: "As a precaution, Iceland is recalling all batches of the above NO CHEESE vegan products due to the possible presence of milk.

"The implicated products may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or its constituents."

Another food safety alert was issued for a gluten-free brownie sold at a Dublin chain of bakeries over fears it may contain gluten.

The affected product is Thunders Bakery Gluten-Free Brownie with a best before date of 05/02/2020; batch number: 05022020 and a pack size of 112g.

The notice said: "The above product was labelled as gluten free but has been recalled as a precaution following detection of gluten in another product,Thunders Bakery Gluten Free Macaroons, best before 16/01/2020, batch 16012020.

"This may make the batch of brownies unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of gluten."
