Iceland is selling a festive pie that contains an entire Christmas dinner

A genius invention that Fray Bentos would be proud of, Iceland has launched what could be the nation's first ever pie that contains a full roast dinner.

Made up of turkey, smoked bacon, stuffing, sprouts, cranberries, onions, peas, carrots and even a pig in blanket, the whole dish is then encased in a buttery pie crust and topped with a flaky puff pastry lid.

Sadly, there's no sign of any potatoes, parsnips or swede (key roast dinner components), but we suppose they could be served up on the side instead.

In more bad news, you'll have to wait another month to get your hands on it, with the Festive Pie not officially launching in stores and online on the Iceland website until November 18th.

All the usual suspects - but in pie form

Weighing in at 220g, Iceland's festive pie contains one person's portion of a traditional Christmas roast dinner, although unfortunately there's no word on pricing yet for us to establish whether you're actually saving any money by opting for a pie over the traditional plate option.

However, Iceland aren't the only ones announcing innovative Christmas dinner options this year, with Aldi also unveiling that it's set to launch a full roast dinner inside a Yorkshire pudding , that will set you back just £1.99.

Once again though, Aldi's offering won't go on sale yet, so in the meantime, we might have to stick to Iceland's £1 "beef filled Yorkshire pudding" instead.

Whether you're hosting a uni Christmas dinner or just want to get started on the festivities early without the faff, forget turkey with all the trimmings and just serve up this piece of art instead...
