Iceland is giving NHS workers, emergency services and the armed forces 20% discount

Iceland has confirmed it will reduce the cost of your weekly shop if you work for the emergency services.

Those working for the NHS, Police, Fire Service, Ambulance, HM Coastguard, RNLI and Armed Forces will now get 20% as a way of Iceland thanking them for their services.

To get the discount, all you have to do is show your official ID or a Blue Light Card in store, with no minimum spend required.

The offer is running for a limited time only and will run for eight days starting Monday, October 14 until its stores close on Monday, October 21 reports MirrorOnline.

Sir Malcolm Walker, Iceland’s founder, said: “Like everyone else, I am in awe of the amazing work undertaken by our emergency services and armed forces each and every day of the year.

"They are the people we all rely on when the going gets too tough for the rest of us.

"So we’d like to say a big “thank you” to all those whose work is dedicated to saving and protecting the lives of others, whether that is in the ambulance service or the wider NHS, the police, fire service, HM Coastguard, and the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

"Plus the volunteers who readily respond to our emergency calls in the RNLI and Mountain Rescue teams.”
