Iceland Foods to install coronavirus protection screens at every UK store

Iceland Foods is to install protective plastic screens at all its shops in the fight against coronavirus.

The Deeside based supermarket giant is determined to take action to ensure its shop assistants are kept as safe as possible.

A plastic screen was trialled at a store today and a major rollout will start from Monday.

Iceland managing director Richard Walker tweeted a picture of the first screen.

He wrote: "Superstar cashier Hazel, road testing our new shield screens. They are being installed on every checkout in every store from Monday onwards."

Iceland has 950 stores and employs more than 25,000 staff across the UK.

It was the first supermarket to roll out special shopping slots for elderly and vulnerable customers to ensure they could shop safely as shoppers stockpiled goods.
