Iceland brings back Christmas staple for Easter following customer demand

Iceland had today announced it will be bringing back a Christmas staple for Easter.

For many, pigs in blankets are a festive favourite saved especially for that Christmas roast dinner, but following customer demand the supermarket is stocking their shelves with them once more.

Iceland has said it has seen a 718% increase in customers searching for pigs in blankets products online. And with the bank holiday fast approaching, shoppers can now serve up an Easter roast with a twist.

The frozen food retailer's 12 Pigs in Blankets (£2.25, 252g) feature a familiar classic combination of pork sausage meat, wrapped in smoked streaky bacon.

And while in store, customers can also pick up everything they'll need to cook up a storm, including the choice of a trio of £10 meats such as Iceland Luxury Aberdeen Angus Roasting Beef Joint (£10.00, 800g), Iceland Lamb Leg Joint (£10.00, 900g) and Iceland Maple Gammon Joint (£10.00, 2.5kg).

It comes after Marks and Spencer brought back its best-selling Christmas sandwich in February for the same reason.

M&S said they had a huge demand from shoppers desperate to get their hands on the festive sandwich all year round.

Sharing the news on social media, M&S said: "It's BACK! You asked, we listened: our famous Christmas turkey feast sandwich is returning to our Foodhall - you're welcome. Get yours in store now."

The £3.30 sandwich includes slices of turkey breast, pork, sage and onion stuffing and bacon.
