Iceland and Topcashback team up to give away 50 free Christmas dinners

A UK cashback site is joining forces with supermarket Iceland and The Food Warehouse to offer families across the UK a free Christmas dinner. From today, shoppers can apply to win a £100 Iceland voucher, which can be used in store to help cover the cost of Christmas celebrations.

A total of 50 families will benefit from the festive initiative by applying via this page Topcashback.co.uk/icelandxmasmeals2022/ between now and Sunday, December 11. The winners will be selected randomly and notified via email between December 12 and 13.

Lisa Syed, Head of Partnerships at TopCashback, said: “As a platform that aims to help people save money all year round, we wanted to go above our usual cashback offering and do something that could potentially make a huge difference to families this festive season.

“Whether you are hosting a large group for dinner or having a low-key celebration, we’d encourage everyone who feels they need the extra support to get involved!”

Caspar Nelson, Marketing Director at Iceland, said: “We’re excited to partner with TopCashback in the lead up to Christmas to help families this year. The cost-of-living crisis has had a huge impact on many of our shoppers recently so we’re proud to be able to work with the likes of TopCashback to help ease the burden this Christmas.”

Last month Iceland launched an entire Christmas dinner feeding four for under £20. This means that those who win the £100 voucher will be able to host for up to 20 people for free or pick up extra treats and presents if they are celebrating on a smaller scale.

Iceland’s products to feed a family of four for less than £20 this Christmas include:

  • Iceland Luxury Extra Tasty Stuffed Turkey Joint with Bacon (£10.00, 1kg)
  • Iceland Roast Potatoes (£1.00, 907g)
  • Iceland Pigs in Blankets (£2.40, 12pk)
  • Iceland Yorkshire Puddings (£1.00, 20pk)
  • Iceland Garden Peas (£1.00, 800g)
  • Iceland Button Sprouts (£1.00, 900g)
  • Iceland Carrot Batons (£1.00, 800g)
  • Iceland Mince Pies (£1.20, 6pk)

For those looking to make even more savings this festive season, money-savings experts at TopCashback have also put tother their top tips for cooking Christmas dinner on a budget.

  1. Plan your meals. Be sure to sit down and put together a detailed meal plan, so you know exactly what and how much of it to buy. This way, you’ll avoid wasting both food and money.
  2. Swap to supermarkets’ own brand. Consider swapping out some of the branded products for your supermarket’s own range – in most cases, you’re unlikely to notice any difference.
  3. Be economical with your energy usage. Cooking a Christmas dinner can quickly rack up your bills, so you need to stay savvy. Ditch the oven for an air fryer if you can, par or fully cook vegetables in the microwave, and make sure your pots have lids on to retain the heat.
  4. Trade in your turkey plans. If your family are not precious about the bird, why not pick a less in demand, cheaper meat, or even opt for a veggie alternative.
  5. Remember that bulk buying can often be a false economy. Instead, keep an eye out for offers in-between now and the big day, and work out the cost per item to make sure you are in fact getting a good deal.
