Ice warning for Glasgow as Met Office advise of Monday morning travel disruption

The Met Office have issued a fresh weather warning with ice likely to cause travel disruption tomorrow morning (Monday).

After heavy rainfall once more this weekend, temperatures are expected to fall to as low as 2C overnight, meaning we'll probably have to look out our scrapers and the de-icer for the first commute of the week.

The yellow warning, which affects much of Scotland, comes into place at midnight tonight and will remain in force until 10am this morning.

The Met Office say: "Icy stretches likely to form Monday morning perhaps bringing some disruption."

What to expect

  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

Meanwhile, Glasgow remains on flood alert today following last night's rain, with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) issuing a specific warning for Pollok Country Park in the south side of Glasgow.
